Christ the King is the name given to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is usually portrayed with a cross, thorns and a flame of fire, a sign of His burning love for us.

In Portugal, in the municipality of Almada, the National Sanctuary of Christ the King was inaugurated in 1959. It is constituted by a portico with 75 meters of height, on which is a statue of Christ, with open arms, with 28 meters of height, made by the sculptor Francisco Franco.

The Sanctuary is not only a tourist destination, but also a place of prayer and devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
